Ways We Serve

Cranmer Chapel Dinner
Lori Orzech, Chairman. If it’s the Friday nearest to Valentine’s Day, then the Lions are serving (and preparing) a free dinner to anyone who wants to stop by. Cranmer Chapel, Winter Park is the location and this bi-weekly meal is coordinated by St. John’s Episcopal Church (Granby) from Thanksgiving through March. Dinner is served on the ‘off’ week (no paycheck) for the Resort employees to help them (and anyone else who wants to stop by) to have a homecooked meal when they’re between paychecks.

Food Delivery
Mark Wanning, Chairman. Every Wednesday, Lions stop at Fireside Grocery Store (Winter Park) and Safeway (Fraser) to pick up groceries donated by the stores to the Mountain Family Food Bank. This service allows the food bank team to focus on filling the shelves, not driving around town.

Forest Tree Cutting
Tim Myers, Chairman. Lions volunteer to help people enter and exit the forest where they’ve cut down their own tree for Christmas. As assistants to the Forest Service, Lions are reimbursed for the time/talent which goes to the Club. Held the first weekend in December at location determined by the Forest Service.

KidSight Screenings
Sue Coburn, Chairman. Lions KidSight is a nation-wide program to ensure children receive eye screenings and follow-up care when needed. Our Lions are trained to be able to screen the vision health of our youngest, and most vulnerable easily and efficiently. Our KidSight team goes into local preschools and elementary schools annually to do the testing.

Shining Stars Dinner
Roger Odneal, Chairman. Each August, the Shining Stars team hosts kids living with pediatric cancer or another life-threatening illness and their families to YMCA of the Rockies (Snow Mountain Ranch) for life in the outdoors together. Lions serve dinner to the group one night during their stay. It’s a homecooked meal with all provided by the Lions Club members. We cook, serve and enjoy being with this special group during their adventure into Grand County.

Vision Support
Lions provides follow up care and glasses to those in need throughout the community. Lions provide funding to be sure people get the services needed, regardless of age of the person. Where there’s a need, there’s a Lion.
