The Fraser River Valley Lions Club is having a shoe drive in conjunction with a Florida NGO, Funds2orgs. We are not asking anyone for money, just gently used or new shoes & boots that you no longer wear or need but are still in good condition.
We want them for several reasons:
- They will go to micro businesses in developing countries where they will be sold at Local markets, boosting the income of family businesses from $2.00/day to $20-$40/day, lifting them out of extreme poverty.
- This will keep the shoes out of the landfill where they take 30-40 years to decay.
- It will free up space in your closets !!!!
- Lions will make $.40/pound for the shoes we collect. Every cent will go back to our community.
Our goal is 2,000 pair.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
